Friday - Stirling

 On Friday, we did not have access to the kitchen, so we stayed on the museum campus. It was pizza day and we started by getting out the previously made dough from the fridge and then making more so that we could see the difference in rising for a same-day batch of dough and one made the previous day. Once everything was ready later we turned on the grill and then prepared and cooked pizzas. There were an array of toppings to choose from and the pizzas were very good. Once most people had finished we relaxed a bit and cleaned up. For the rest of the day we lounged and waited to go home. Overall it was a successful day of cooking.

Monday - Talulah

To start off day one of the Art of Cooking M-Term we headed off to the main campus to begin our first meal. Before cooking, chef Avril, gave us a lesson on Knife skills to ensure we were all safe in the kitchen. After that we began preparing our ingredients for Bibimbap. This involved a lot of cutting of vegetables and making different sauces to accompany the dish. After all of our ingredients were prepared we moved to the stove and seared the veggies and cooked our marinated steak. It’s safe to say that we have a delicious start to this week of Art of Cooking and we are all looking forward to making more recipes! Avril walked us through a lesson in knife skills and how to cut the different vegetables. Max was in charge of making the sauce for her group. Gloria is Stirfrying Peppers. Thursday - Gloria

  Chicken mole, a Puebla, Mexico dish, is a very tedious and time consuming recipe to follow. We start with 1 whole chicken and this part I will never forget, we cracked the chickens bones with our hands to get the different parts of the meat we needed: legs, breast, and wings. We then had to gather all our spices and chiles in the correct measurements so that we could assemble our mole sauce. During this process we actually broke 2 blenders on accident. Our mole was too awesome for the blenders... We ended up only using one mole sauce because that was the only one that was completed. We then made our rice to go along side our chicken mole. The rice came out fantastic, and so did the chicken mole!  Chicken mole day was definitely a long one. So if you decide to make chicken mole at home be prepared to have time, all the correct ingredients and their measurements, and a functioning blender! RECIPE

Wednesday - Max

  Today in art of cooking we made quiches and fruit tarts! This process took a long time seeing as we made everything from scratch, but it was definitely worth it in the end. Personally, I don’t like egg so the fruit tart was definitely my favorite, but all the egg lovers enjoyed the groups quiches. Both of these recipes would be super delicious and lovely to bring to a brunch. Overall, it was a great day and everyone had a lot of fun while also learning how to make something new!! Gloaria, Ambika, Stirling, and pie crust. Evan and his bacon. Max prepared the dough for the tart. A finished fruit tart. Alice serves up a savory Cheese Quiche A spinach and Feta quiche.  It may have been the best of the day and may also have been the one Chef Jessica and Mr, Wadzeck put together. RECIPE
